A Secret Technique to Develop Discipline Faster That Nobody is Talking About

Unconventional, but effective

If there is one skill that can completely metamorphosize your life, it’s the art of self-discipline. However, mastering, hell, even developing discipline, is easier said than done. If you are anything like me, you love to be efficient. Once I realized I had to get a grip on my life and stop allowing myself to be a victim of circumstances, I looked for ways to maximize the development of my discipline. I tried all sorts of things. Waking up at the crack of dawn, listening to motivational podcasts, removing temptations from my life.

I’m sure all these things helped me on my journey, but there was one thing that UNDOUBTEDLY worked better than anything I tried. That was meditating while sitting in a sauna.

Hear me out. Meditating alone already requires intense focus and stillness. Adding the heat from the sauna takes things to the next level. You learn to silence the physical discomfort your body experiences to experience the mental benefits of meditating. Read that again. You learn to silence the physical discomfort your body experiences to experience the mental benefits of meditating. That’s all discipline really is once you boil it down to the barebones. Enduring what you don’t want to do in the moment to get to experience what you do want in the future.

I get access to a sauna through my gym membership at LA Fitness. The sauna is such an incredible amenity that it’s what keeps me going to LA Fitness. I’d recommend getting a guest pass from LA Fitness if you’re interested in trying this technique out and you don’t have access to a sauna. I always do sauna work after finishing a workout right before leaving the gym for the day. I swear by this technique. It’s like activating a superpower inside you that’s been long dormant.

Word to the Wise

1. If you are new to saunas, I would recommend starting with a short time like 5-10 minutes. It can quickly become overwhelming sensation in there and its best to practice caution while starting out.

2. Create a playlist containing guided meditations you want to listen to. Then download them so you can listen to them offline. You might not have service inside the sauna so it’s best to have them downloaded to avoid interruptions.

3. Be careful with wearing jewelry in the saunas. Metals will quickly heat up and can burn your skin. I learned this the hard way…

4. Noise canceling headphones are recommended. Sometimes you’ll have others in the sauna with you who are chatting. I promise you; you’ll want to focus on your meditation. Not what Bobby in the sauna was up to last weekend.

5. Close your eyes while listening to the guided meditation. It will help with entering and staying in a meditative state. Best of luck if you try this technique out. I hope it proves to be as beneficial to you as it has been to me.
